A Lab Built Around Real Power Projects

Distributors are often described as pass-through channels, but the work that helps power customers most happens before and after the sale. BeiLuo's new power lab exists to do that work: to measure how Hawun devices behave in a real system, so that the recommendations we make are grounded in measurement rather than data sheets alone. The lab covers the four Hawun lines we supply, from converters and supplies to medical supplies and current sensors.

What the Lab Measures

The lab's first job is power characterization. For a converter or supply, that means measuring efficiency across the load range, output ripple and noise, and the temperatures under sustained load. For a medical or precision supply, it means measuring the isolation, the leakage and the output noise with the real load. For a current sensor, it means measuring the accuracy and the response time, and validating the trip in the real safety chain. Those measurements turn a data-sheet figure into a design decision.

EMC Validation

The hardest power problems are EMC problems, and they are hard to predict from a datasheet. The lab measures the conducted emissions against the standard's limit and identifies the source of a peak, so a customer knows whether the problem is the switching loop, the filter or the switching edge. For a mains-powered product, this measurement often decides whether the design passes its EMC requirement.

Thermal and Derating Measurement

A supply's usable power depends on the ambient and the airflow, so the lab measures the temperatures in the real enclosure rather than on a bare board. That lets a customer confirm the derating against the worst-case ambient and avoid the classic surprise of a supply that is cool on the bench but overheats inside a sealed product. The measurement is bounded and produces a short report with the data and the recommendation.

Data That Improves Advice

The value of the lab is not only the tests it runs, but the data it accumulates. Over time, the results form a picture of how each family behaves across applications, and that picture makes our selection advice more precise. When a customer asks whether a converter will meet a ripple target, or whether a supply will pass EMC, we can answer from measured experience rather than from generalities.

How Customers Use It

Customers can request lab support during design-in or before a production commitment. Typical engagements include efficiency and ripple measurement for a converter, EMC validation for a mains supply, thermal and derating measurement for an enclosed supply, and response-time validation for a residual current sensor. The work is bounded, so customers know what to expect, and the output is a short report with measurements and recommendations.

Quality Behind the Products

The lab also supports our quality processes. Incoming parts can be verified, failed units can be characterized before an RMA is raised, and unusual behaviour can be reproduced under controlled conditions. That reduces the back-and-forth that otherwise stretches a support case, and it gives customers a clear technical answer when a design or a part behaves unexpectedly.

Training and Knowledge Transfer

The lab is also a place where knowledge is transferred rather than only consumed. When a customer's engineers visit, the session is as much about method as about results: how to measure efficiency correctly, how to measure conducted emissions against a limit, and how to confirm the derating in the real enclosure. That transfer multiplies the value of the lab across a customer's future designs, and it reduces the number of support cases that begin with a question the customer could answer with the right procedure. We publish what we are able to generalize as support articles, so the wider customer base benefits from what a single engagement uncovers.

Booking and Availability

Because the lab supports live customer engagements, time is scheduled through the account manager and aligned with the customer's design milestones, so the measurements land when a decision has to be made rather than after it. Customers planning a production commitment should book their session early enough that the results can still influence the board or the enclosure.

Book a Session

The Hawun power lab is available to customers through their account manager. Bring a real design question, and we will build the representative test, measure the result and tell you what the data shows, so you can commit to production with fewer surprises.
